1. Mérce is the first online news platform in Hungary built entirely on community funding. We are accountable only to our readers. However, this fragile model works only as long as our readers also believe it is essential to have an independent newspaper like ours.

2. We report on the struggles of the working class, minorities, and the system that creates and sustains exploitation and injustice. We work closely with unions, NGOs, and advocacy groups, giving them a voice and fighting together for a more equal, fair, and just Hungary.

3. There are no ads or paywalls on our site. Our articles, live streams, and videos are accessible to those who cannot afford to pay. We do not rely on paid advertising and are independent of advertisers and click-based revenue.

4. We are not backed by investors, corporations, or owners seeking political or economic profit. We operate as a non-profit, and all our revenue supports the editorial team's work at Mérce.

5. The media environment in Hungary is extremely polarised. State media and the loudest, best-funded voices are mostly right-wing, and few platforms provide systemic and solidaristic critiques.
