A large part of the My Voice, My Choice team moved to Brussels in late August. We put our private lives on hold because we wanted to show to you and to ourselves, that we truly did everything in our power to make access to safe abortion care in the EU a reality. And now it looks like we will need to stay in Brussels longer than planned. We need your help.
The last two and a half months have been intense and incredibly productive. We have met with everyone willing to have a conversation with us, gaining new allies every single day. Last week, the European Parliament included our demands in the Gender Equality Strategy, and our main goal - a resolution in support of My Voice, My Choice, is finally within reach. The resolution passed the FEMM Committee and is now awaiting the final vote by all members of the European Parliament.
But anti-abortion rights politicians in the EU parliament have managed to delay that vote. This means our entire team must remain in Brussels for at least another month to keep building political support, meet Members of Parliament, and ensure that the right to choose stays firmly on the EU agenda. We cannot afford to lose momentum now.
