Six months ago, the European Commission said yes to My Voice, My Choice, supported by 1.2 million people, and confirmed that Member States can use EU funds through the European Social Fund (ESF+) to improve access to abortion care.
Six months later, not a single Member State has used this opportunity. We also need to secure a dedicated EU budget line that would guarantee stable, long-term support for abortion care across Europe.
That is why we are going back to Brussels next week, and we need your help to get there.
Our team will meet with Commissioners Hadja Lahbib and Roxana Minzatu, Members of the European Parliament, and other decision-makers who can help push governments to act. We will also hold a press conference to publicly demand that Member States use the funding pathway now available to them.
Our goal is to get the first country to adopt the My Voice, My Choice financial mechanism to provide access to abortion to those who lack it. To do that, we need sustained political pressure, visibility, and people on the ground who can keep pushing those responsible to act.
